Questions about trackballs and mice and buttons

I am using a trackball hooked to my KE72T. The trackball will also serve as my mouse for applications (and games) that need it (i.e. Centipede). I was wondering if I could use my P1 buttons for the mouse buttons or do I have to have 3 separate buttons to provide left click, middle click, and right click?
