: Thanks alot! That really helped. I also emailed a guy at happ controls and he said I should drill a 1.5 inch hole. That's what he recommended. Does that sound like that is a good idea also? I know it will work because the black plastic ring is like 2.5 inches, so it will be okay. Does that sound like a good idea though? Thanks

Hey Purbeast,

As long as the black plastic ring covers the hole, you're cool. Just remember that the ring will slide around as the stick moves, so don't make the hole TOO close. Also, remember that you can always make a smaller hole bigger, but you can't make a big hole smaller. My advice: Drill a 1 1/8" or 1 1/4" hole in the center, mount the joystick in, and then move it around in all directions. If the shaft of the stick never hits the wood, then you're good to go. Otherwise, just take the joystick base out and make the hole a bit bigger.
