I hope someone comes up with an answer to your problem. I run into the exact same thing on my machine (Celeron 300, 128m RAM, MAME in PURE DOS). I was able to swap out my RAM to see if maybe a bank is bad. I've tried all of the other suggestions, but I still get "Page Fault" crashes whenever I run large games (usually newer Neo-Geo games...Metal Slug, any of the big fighters, etc.).
