In the world of buying used equipment, one has to take chances from time to time. There is no easy answer to that question. I would say 99% it has to do with adjustments because as you say it was taken from another cabinet. (even though they are interchangeable easily like that...there's always a chance that a minor sync adjustment comes into play. I'm just rambling off on what it could be. (Take Spock's logical approach... :) and look for the most obvious, and when there is no obvious, its the most illogical :) That's the Murphy's law with electronics. It's very possible that there could be a heat problem, failing circuit, or PCB problem. Regardless though, if you could get it a reasonable price, and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty working with it (don't electrocute yourself, as those things can pack a wallop and r death, if you don't know what you are doing READ UP).. then I would jump on it. The jist of it is, you know the tube works fine, and that's the most costly part, besides the monitor PCB fixture. And by the screen going left and right (Raiden being on a verticle setup, I would say the horizontal sync may need adjusting. I've seen similiar and it was easy to fix. But I don't want to draw you into thinking it would be a cakewalk job either. It could be something as simple as turning a knob, or tracing a loose ground/wire. And it could be a sign of a failing circuit to come.. but I doubt it. could be interference, heat, the game PCB, the horiz/vert sync adjustments. If its at a good price, I would say grab it... 25" monitors are high these days and its more fun down the road getting stuff working :) but that's just my opinion. Here's some links to help you. check www.spies.com/arcade/schematics/index.html and you may find everything you need to know about the monitor if you find the model. Plus as for the Raiden 2 PCB, www.spies.com/boardPinouts/index.html will give you everything you know on how to follow the Jamma sync leads and check them. Good luck. If I know a monitor works in the way you describe and the price is right.. I grab them anyway, (after talking the seller down of course). As with all sales, the price is negotiable.

: I am looking into buying a fully working Raiden II arcade machine to add to my collection. Unfortunately, I don't really know a lot about arcade monitors. The machine is not in its original arcade cabinet, it appears to be in a generic cab. The monitor is a big one. Not sure the exact dimensions. What bugs me about it is that the screen appears to move back and forth some. It looks like to monitor is just dangling inside the cab and it just barely moves left to right even though it is bolted in good. So there is some swaying of the picture on the screen. I presume that it just needs some minor adjusting. However, if anyone else thinks that it could be more serious, I would be grateful for your input. I hate to pay a good amount for the machine if it has a bad monitor. Thanks all!!
