: I'm in the earliest stages of building a MAME arcade cabinet of my own, I'm just thinking and brainstorming for ideas. One important question I can think of is, how fast of a computer should I plan on using for it? How fast of a processor, how big of a hard drive, etc. Let's say I want to run ALL the NON-NeoGeo MAME games only for instance. Can I get by with a 486, and if I were to use a 486 would I suffer much, or would it be decent? To cover all bases on all NON-NeoGeo MAME games how fast of a Pentium processor should I plan on using? If I WERE to go all out and do ALL games including NeoGeo's, how fast of a processor should I plan on and how much HDD space? thanks!

As far as hard drive space goes, I think current all the roms Mame supports takes up about 1.5GB when zipped up.
