I had the same problem with my ASUS K7M. The DOS drivers don't work in pure DOS (windows dos box only) because the mobo doesn't support NMI, so that also meens that I can't use any PCI based sound cards in pure DOS either. I'm using a SB16 PnP and it works great. I think its better than the onboard sound because it has that 3d audio thing that makes most games sound better than without using it.
