Well LCDs aren't the best to use because of their fixed resolution. Most have 800x600 or 1024x768 individual pixels, displaying anything that isn't at that resolution forces the LCD screen to guesstimate and scale the image up or down. Seeing as the bulk of the older games are 320x200, you would get alot of wierd graphical errors. You could always let mame do the scaling as well...

Personally I prefer non scaled images. I play mame on my friend Powerbook G3 all the time, but the visuals don't come close to my mame cab.
