DOS Sound prob with MAME/AOS

This past weekend, I bought a new CPU (533mhz celeron), motherboard (Houston Technologies), 32mb ram (it's not cheap right now), etc to upgrade my poor old P100 that I had in my arcade cabinet.

The motherboard has onboard pci-based sound, video, lan, etc. I figured for the cabinet, this would be perfect.

I simply moved the cdrom and harddrive out of the old box and into the new box. After some BIOS tweaking, things worked great...except for the sound in MAME. If I enable soundblaster in AOS, it crashes before it even gets to the MAME copyright/info screen. If I disable sound altogether, it smokes.

I can get any other DOS based game working fine EXCEPT MAME (under Arcade OS)! I've tried renaming the mame.cfg and no good. I've tried every sound setting in AOS and no good.

The autoexec.bat was clean and I installed the DOS drivers as stated in the manual. These is the latest version of the drivers.

I haven't tried windows yet as I plan to use a larger harddrive and haven't had a chance to set it up yet. I'd still prefer to use pure dos most of the time.

I thought I had this figured out but still can't get it working. Any ideas/help!?!?!?!?!?!?!
