Congrats. Its not always the obvious when dealing with circuitry. the more components.. the more troubleshooting, and it may end up being a simple toggle, jumper, or solder point, etc :) And one problem can be caused by a humpteen dozen different things. Murphy's law of electronics, heh. Unless you've got the expensive testing equipment, to actually get down and test piece by piece, ... its a step by step troubleshoot scenario. But in the end, I bet it's worth it, now that it works eh ?

: I shortened the cables and at the same time I noticed that two of the connectors on the new joystick to be mounted were wired so that once "switched" it would stay in an "on" position (ie: auto repeating).

: I took the two offending switches out and soldered wires onto the other available switch connector which ended up producing just one letter when switched to (unless you hold the joystick over).

: Wired everything up and all works great! Problem is I am not sure if it really was the length of the cables or the incorrect wiring on the two directional switches that was causing the erratic behaviour of before.

: The joystick purchased for mounting was setup with a PC joystick connector so maybe PC joystick inputs don't care if it receives the "On" or "once only" signal?

: Maybe some helpful info for those who experience similar problems to check for incorrect switch wiring and cable length when using keyboard hacks.

: Thanks for everyones help.
