I don't think so, I have two fans mounted on wither side of the cabinet. (You can see one of them in the picture)

I find that most of the vertical classic vertical games work well (Pacman, Digdug, Space Invaders, Galaga, Galaxian...) I've even kept some that don't do cocktail mode, although the two players will have to swap chairs :)
