spring-loaded "trackball"

Has anyone ever seen/used a spring-loaded trackball?
(I heard of one existing on a music synthesizer keyboard once.)

To some this sounds silly; they say "that's not a trackball. It's a joystick". That's fine, but I want a joystick with the basic trackball shape and movement (except that it doesn't have to be able to spin, just rotate a reasonable amount).

For some applications, a trackball shape and interaction style, combined with spring-loaded centering seems to me to be more convenient than a
regular joystick.
