: : 1. Can someone please post all the parts needed from HAPP to assemble a monitor from scratch.

: It would be cheaper to buy a complete monitor from Happ (or from WellsGardner directly) than to assemble one from parts.

When I look at Happ's catalog I wasn't clear if it was "standard" for the monitor to come sans power supply and/or chassis...I'll look closer ;-)

: : 2. What about scan lines...I presume that the monitors have visible scan lines, so how do you set MAME up?

: Turn scan lines off, run with the -monitor arcade switch. That's about all you need to know. Use an ATI Rage video card. They're the most compatible.

Cool. Anyone have experience with a Matrox Millenium II in this application? It is a kick-butt 2d card I have laying around that I hope to use.

: : 3. How do vector games look when displayed on an arcade monitor (do the scan lines ruin the image)?

: They actually look a lot better than I thought they would. I'm totally happy with them.

Any chance or a photo of Asteroids on your rig? That game is my "must run perfectly"...all the others to me are just a bonus.

: : 4. What about a 21" TV in an arcade cabinet instead of an arcade monitor? Is this a good alternative?

: Not so good, since you'd have to use a VGA to NTSC converter, and the image quality goes in the toilet.

I'll trash that idea then.....

: Tim

Thanks again,
