How come you can't use USB interface like the one Happ sells that lets you hook up joysticks, buttons, and a trackball?

: Thanks for the info.

: In discussions with Chris (Fultra) we have decided to go down the route of designing our own optical board, which will fit on the Fultra spinner and the Happ trackball.
: One interesting point: This problem does not arise if the PS/2 port is being used, as the PS/2 mouse port supplies a "solid" +5 volts. This is probably why that new Hagstrom interface uses this port. I think this a less useful option, as it limits flexibility. For example no 2-player trackball games, no EMU+ etc. I reckon sticking to the serial port(s) is the best way to go, and leave the PS/2 port for a real mouse in Windows if required.
