Andy Geez - I mailed you this message and got no response. Figured maybe you're not checking that address so I posted the message here. Would like input from others anyway.

Hey, it's been a while since I mailed you last. I hope all is well.

I am writing to implore you to continue to develope Optimame. I know that Emu+ has integrated all of the features of Optimame, so it seems like wasted effort on your part to continue with your own version, but there's one major difference between the two:

Optimame works reliably. Emu+ only works with some games.

For example, Emu+ will not recognize any joystick input when playing Pole Position II. It works perfectly and as expected with Optimame. In Super Sprint, the throttle (gas) seems to be always on no matter what settings I choose in any of the menus with Emu+, however with Optimame, once again everything works as you would expect them to.

The list goes on and on and I find myself using Optimame whenever Emu+ doesn't work.

Also, the Emu+ folks have not updated their version for a few release cycles, and now they're behind. You always seemed to keep up with releases pretty well.

By the way, I don't think its really necessary to do a rev of something like Optimame everytime Mame gets updated. Only a handfull of games benefit from Optimame's features, so it seems to me that a release of Optimame is only warranted if the latest version of Mame has added support for a game that requires precise device axis configuration, like Super Offroad in Mame 37b4!! (which I've been dieing to play with my brand new pair of Happs 360 degree Steering Wheels.)

So what do ya say? Pretty please? I'll be your best friend!! Aw, come on, I asked real nice. No fair, Mom tell Andy to update Optimame!!

PS to Emu+ developers: Please don't take this post as a dis, a bash, or flame of any kind. You guys do really good work as well and I appreciate your efforts. I use your version of mame all the time and I'm very glad it exists. I particularly like the -fifty option, and had been waiting forever for someone to implement that idea.
