: 1. Real arcade cp's are usually built like that and we are going for authenticity here right? :)

: 2. Most often, we byoac people router out a quarter inch (or more) from the bottom so that the joystick sits higher. Screws would not work well because there is not enough wood to grab onto without going all the way through.

: 3. Better stability.

: What I did on mine is countersink the bolt heads and fill the gap with wood putty. So they don't show.
