mount joysticks with bolts versus wood screws?

checking out all the examples it looks like most people drill holes through their control panel and bolt the joysticks in place. On a temporary control panel I just screwed the sticks to the bottom of the control panel with wood screws. I haven't had problems yet but seeing everyone bolt theirs makes me wonder. Comments?
