: I have a 20” PC monitor that I was planning to use in my cabinet. I also have an old TV in the garage and I prepared to buy an arcade monitor if it is worth the money.
I have not used a TV, so I can not speak to that, but it is really a matter of choice for the arcade monitor versus the pc monitor. I went from a 15 inch pc monitor to a used electrohome go-7 19 inch monitor. I had constant "rolling" problems every time I switched games/resolutions. While i think my problem may have been extreme, I am not sure that it is that uncommon. I finally wound up with the WG U3100. It looks like crap in WIN, but looks very "arcade like" without any of the other associated hassles. You need others with monitors to tell you if they had the same problem. Again, mine may have been the extreme.

: I am not interested in running Windows or any other software except emulators. I could live with only MAME but I would like to add Raine and emulators that emulate Genesis and SNES.

I have run none of these other emulators...sorry

: I would also like an answer to the following questions (remember, no 3D and no Windows):

: * Best video card for a PC monitor?
: * Best video card for an Arcade monitor?

Again, no TV experience here, but I like the ATI cards. I am using the ATI RAGE II Pro. It supposedly is the card used when MAME was coded. I also have an unused ATI Expert 98 that works fine, but I still like the Rage II better for mame. I used with both my pc monitor and my WG U3100. There are a lot of Arcade monitor guys that are using the ATI expert 98 with a arcade monitor

: And a final question:
: * Can I gain anything using Advanced MAME (or any other video enhanced version of MAME) with a regular PC monitor and why?

The documentation on the site indicates that you should use the regular mame. But, if you can find all the resolution info, it might be worth trying.
