Inferno is another game that uses a diagonal stick. In fact it uses two diagonally mounted joysticks and, get this, one of them needs to be a trigger stick.
It uses one for direction of movement and the other for direction of fire.
I never actually saw this old Williams classic in the arcade, but when I discovered it in Mame and realized how challenging it is, it entered into my regular playing rotation.
