I had the same problem when i got my 3" trackball. It wasn't as free spinning as I had seen in some arcades. I like the trackball to spin really easily like the ones on the golden tee games. I struggeled a bit to get it to spin better and I even used some lubricants, but they just gummed up too much. In the end what I did was actually remove the closed part (the little plate so that dirt doesn't get in) and I used a cleaner/degreaser to completely remove all the lubrication that was inside. I dried them off with compressed air and man did they ever spin then! I figured, why do I need lubrication in the ball bearings when I'm not going to use the trackball nearly as much as it would be used in the arcade every day. Then I put the bearings back in the trackball ass'y and it was finally the way i like it. You can now spin the trackball and boy does it spin smoothly!
You might want to try this if nothing else works...it worked for me. :)

Game on!! Brian

: Well, subject says it all. I bought and mounted a new 2 1/4" Happ trackball and while it works fine, there are times where the ball tends to stick. Pushing a little harder gets through the tight spot but it definitely can harm gameplay.

: Is the ball mechanism just tight since it's new? Is there a way I can lubricate it or do something similar to free it up a bit?
