Hagstrom vs I-PAC

I have a couple of questions about keyboard encoders. I am building a CP with 2 sets of sticks/buttons, a trackball and a spinner. I am currently considering the Happ trackball, and the Futura spinner. I am unclear about a couple of things:

1. Does the Hagstrom encoder (with trackball support) have any advantages over the I-PAC/Opti-PAC combo? It is over twice as expensive.

2. I thought that the Happ trackball needed a power support. I think it will plug into the Hagstrom encoder. Is that true? What about the Opti-PAC?
