I agree. There are some serious kick butt modifications to MAME out there, but I have to force myself to stick with the "original" MAME because who knows how long the other mod versions will be around. I don't want to be running a modified version of MAME based off of todays current release because it has some extra options, or functionality, only to have it be the last of that mod version, and be stuck at that revision when the regular MAME is a few versions beyond it.

I am not a programmer, and I am very happy that we even have ANY version of MAME to use, but it would be nice to combine some of these things. It will sure clean things up when my cabinet powers up. Then I wouldn't have to select from up to 5 (currently) different versions of MAME at power up.

: Why start another project? There is already a MAME Dev. Team. Why not add the add-ons to the main project? That was what my question was all about in the first place, didn't I make my self clear?

: Note: I could spend the little spare time I got to make another clone of the original MAME but you would then have to do without things like SortInfo.exe ;)

: Any other _good_ opinions or ideas?

: : : I am a free time freeware programmer to so I know to appreciate other peoples free development work. MAME is one of the most impressive freeware projects on the net and I have such a good time playing with it. I would therefor like to thank all MAME contributors from the bottom of my hart and I would also like to point out that I know that I am not entitled to demand any thing from the developers.

: : Well if your a freeware programmer you know what to do, organise to put them all together yourself.
