It just occured to me how to make a spiner, knob, bearing and monting all in one!
Take your old defunct hard drives that you have laying around on the wall or hanging up (They look so cool partially disassembled) and take out the spindle/motor assembly. The Motor assembly is usuallt encased and single large unit on the bottom of the drive, the spindle is almost always threded on the inside. Use the screw that held down all the platters to connect some sort of metal tube or shaft.
The feel is going to be great, the bearings are top quality too.
