how to make remapped keys "stick"

I am trying to remap the coin keys (3&4) to buttons 5 and 6. I use the tab while within mame and it works mometarily, but when I restart the next game, they are gone. I did not see anything in mame.cfg that would seem to help. I tried the remapper in arcadeos, but that did not work either. Yes, i used scan code to get the designation of the key. Any help here?

    • Check Mame.cfg does not have "read-only" attribute set. Andy Warne 7/05/2000 (0)
    • Delete all cfg files (*.cfg) in the cfg sub directory and try again *NT* EmuMannen 7/05/2000 (0)
