Keyboard hack.... will this board work? ...

: Hello. : I am just now starting on the project of building my own desktop arcade controler. I will be using a hacked up keyboard. : This is the way I tested it so far.. Please if im wrong, correct me!! hopefully before i tear this SOB apart :) : I got the program "keyscan" : I started pressing and holding down keys... i was able to press get 16 keys to register at once (with the help of my sister)... I probably could get more... : After pressing each key I would relese one and re-press to make sure it would still register and unregister. : heres what i mean: : press 1 and hold down. : press 2 and hold down. : press 3 and hold down. : press 4 and hold down. relese 1 and re-press 1 to make sure it will unregister and re-register... then hold 1 down with all mentioned down. : so far i have keys 1,2,3,4, down : press 5 and hold down... : flash all mentioned in random order... : The way i describe it with numbers dont work.. it works with other keys. I was using the numbers as examples in the explination. : Is this the way to check a keyboard for masking? : im not quite understanding this whole thing about matrix.
