Yes, it's frustrating but it can be done. I did just what you mentioned a few weeks ago and it was a royal pain in the butt due to the molded cable plus the silicon that was over the wires/pins. It took me quite a few hours but it was well worth it since I have no distortions or garbage on screen which I attribute to using a VGA cable while leaving the EMI/RF filtering "thingies" on both ends of the cable. I would charge, way, way too much to build you one do to the time involved. Sorry.

: Ive taken two of these cables apart and its impossible to find the correct wires. They are just all molded together in plastic in the endpiece! Are these colors standard like jamma is? This is my final step in my cabinet and the frustration level is rising steadily! Aaaarrrrggghhh!
