Andy will prabably answer this one himself but I will comment on the "single direction interface" anyhow...

The keyboard interface is a two way street. The keyboard controller is sending key codes to the on board controller in the pc (that is obvious) but the on board controller can also send codes to the keyboard (not so obvious). These codes can be things like set LED status, echo request, send keyboard id, set auto repeat delay, enable keyboard, reset keyboard, resend last result, self test etc.

So a single direction interface from the keyboard to the pc should work ok as long as the keyboard don't have to receive any information from the on board controller (it is not often but it do happen).

: I think I've decided on using the I-PAC for my cabinet and have a few questions:

: 1) I want to be able to use this cabinet for playing keyboard/mouse based games (unreal tournament, starcraft, etc). On the IPAC page, the FAQ says:

: "The auxiliary keyboard is implemented with a single-direction interface and is intended only for game configuration etc, not for intensive PC application usage."

: Has anyone had any problems paying keyboard intensive games with a keyboard plugged into the IPAC?

: What are the limitations implied by "single direction interface"?

: 2) I'm considering using the new USB interface version... has anyone had any problems with this (especially on an Abit BH-6 mobo)?

: Thanks,
: Keith
