Steel wool sounds a bit dangerous. You could also try rubbing for cars (metal) and gelcoat cleaner for boats (plastic). Just be careful!

: The outside of my recently arrived JAMMA cabinet is mostly plastic but it does have some painted metal also. The cabinet had some debris on it that I could not get off with 409 or Goo-gone. I was ready to either paint the cabinet or just live with it. I then came up with an unorthodox "cleaner"...steel wool. Yep, that's right, steel wool. If you rub too hard it will indeed take off some of the finish but when used sparingly it does a nice job. I'm happy with the result and it was much easier than painting the cabinet, especially since I would have to take the decals off the sides before painting.

: BTW, I got my trackball, Happ buttons and Wico leaf joys today and hope to re-do my cp this weekend. The trackball is going to be very tight.
