I play Space Duel and Asteroids all the time with a joystick, I've never been able to play those games well with buttons alone. I use left and right to rotate, up for thrust, fire, shields and hyperspace are regular buttons.

: anybody out there played Blasteroids, or even Asteroids or Space Duel, with MAME and joysticks versus buttons(asteroids) or spinners (blasteroids) for rotation of your ship? how well does the right/left work for you?
