Thanks for the input Andy. I'm trying to find a solution that will fit most games on the screen CLOSE to full screen without having to fiddle with the picture size. I am willing to rotate the monitor (i did it already once on my current cab) I guess i have to just think this thing out. I may have more questions in a bit...

thanks again

: Okay to be honest there isn't actually a lot of games that use Medium Resolution at the momement.

: But I guess you never can tell, I did a quick change to Mon-ARC so everything was running in 24/25khz output, 320x240 games where very short (picture not too tall), but you can change the height on Arcade Tubes so its not so bad, and you have todo that with Standard Res monitors too, if say you was running a 320x224 game full screen then decided to run a 400x256 or 400x300 game.

: The Advantage of Medium Resolution are the following (With Mon-ARC) and I think Medium resolution support would be the only way to go if Windows ever gets supported.

: 400x300 at 60hz
: 512x384 at 60hz
: 640x400 at 60hz
: 640x480 at 50hz

: Also you can play Vertical games on a Horizontal monitor.

: Like Mercs and so on, and if the screen is a 25" then the picture would be the same size as a rotated 19" monitor (You get black bars left and right, but this is to keep the aspect ratio, I could make it full screen, but I am thinking it would look why blocky).

: Just bear in mind you would be changing your vertical size a lot, as you'd be going from a lot of different height games, like 224,240,256,288,384,400,480.

: Probably another reason why I want Medium resolution monitor is I do plan to buy Sega Model 1/2/3 games oneday I dream off having a Daytona or HOTD.

: But if you can buy a a monitor that can do both..

: As for Standard Resolution monitor, if you have a supported Video card, you can run CPS1, Midway and all other standard res games at there native resolutions so you get no blank spaces left or right, and you only have to set up your monitor width once when using VSYNCMAME,and AdvanceMAME does something like this also, although I am not sure if AdvanceMAME runs at there native refresh rates yet, VSYNCMAME for example runs a screen resolution at 400x256 at 53.20hz for Mortal Kombat for example.
