: My questions:

: First off, does anybody know the chances of frying my Playstation if I screw up somewhere along the way? I've heard of people messing up their computers with keyboard hacks, but will a controller hack do the same thing?

You can blow the pad's and the memory card port's fuses.

: Second, what kind of connectors should I use? The simplest way would probably be to use some sort of 28 pin connector, but what kind would work for something like this?

Playstation controllers usually have a ground (going to each button), so you only need 15 pins(14 for buttons, one for ground). A parrallel port (printer) conector should be fine.

: Third, what kind of joystick should I use? Should I get one with a 4 way option, or is it even worth the bother on a PSX?

If you plan to use game collections (ie. Namaco Musuem), then it might be worth while.

:Does anyone know how the HAPP Competition stick feels? I haven't heard anything about that one.

You'll have to look around in the archives for reviews/info about this joystick, but the Super beat the Competition in all 'tests'.

:If I were to use the HAPP 360 joystick, how would I rig it, as it uses a ground wire and playstation controllers don't?

Playstation controlleers does have a ground, it'll go from button to button.

: Last of all, which buttons should I use? I personally like the convex buttons like in the Tekken Tag cabinets, but don't mind concave either. Does anyone have an opinion over whether to use the HAPP Competition buttons or the standard HAPP Ultimate Pushbutton with horizontal Microswitch?

It's personal preference as to whether or not you want concave or convex buttons, I personally don't like convex buttons. The only other different between the horizontal microswitch and the competition, is that you can you a thicker control panel material. (PS the Ultimate doesn't have a horizontal microswitch, so I'm assuming you mean the one for $1.45)
