Is S-Video necessary?

I am looking at going the route of a 25"TV for display, and I have been price shopping. Anyhow, the cost between a TV with RCA jacks and S-Video seems quite high (most were about $100 more). Is S-Video a must? I am planning on using an ATI Rage Fury (new, 32meg) with both RCA and S-Video outputs available. The only TV I have at home with S-Video is my 52", and everything gets pretty blocky looking at that size regardless of how the PC connects to it (Movies look great, but that is another story.)...
