Need ergonomics / dimensions help

Sat down and did some work with my first cardboard mock up tonight, and was suprised by the size required for comfortable 2 player action.

Can anyone help with dimensions or info or links to info on:

1) The distance between the 2 sticks on real arcade machines designed for 2 player side by side play (fighting etc.)

2) The distance between the 2 sticks in multi-stick games like Crazy Climber etc.
