You can't argue about the ultimate arcade experience, it is a real arcade cabinet with original arcade controls, but it is a real beast to carry around :)

So is there any alternatives? I am writing this from my summer house in the fringe of the Swedish archipelago of Stockholm (that is more than 24.000 islands!). The weather is fine and there is not much to do, so what to do it you want to play your favorite arcade classic? I have found a solution! When I found the first emulator that really impressed me (Callus) I started to look for a arcade input solution. I found the PowerRamp by Act Lab(http://www.actlab.com). It is (as you probably knows) a arcade looking joystick with a programmable keyboard encoder core insted of the usual gamepad core. This is a great device (especially on my regular PC when I want to check out the latest version of MAME or just play a quick game of anything) so I planned to use the core of the PowerRamp in my full size cabinet. I did't want to lose my original PowerRamp so I ordered two PowerRamp MITE's. It is a gamepad version of the PowerRamp. I din't find the MITE 100% the same as the PowerRamp (I find the PowerRamp much better than the MITE but the MITE is still good enough to be useful, read on...) and it did't perform good enough when I daisy chained the two of them (just as Act Lab had informed me, but I just had to try it myself ;)

So there I was with two PowerRamp MITE and no ideá of what to use them for, until yesterday! We where going to our sumer house and I took my lapptop with me to do some remote work. Hey, why not bring the PowerRamp MITE and my latest MAME CD? The result is just great, if you have a laptop with a built in mini trackball, even better, just plug in the MITE as an external keyboard and startup MAME!

Summer house, train, flight, in the car, on the subway, boat trips, the possibilities are endless. Instant emulation when you want it, and laptops have finally proven themself useful...

Have a nice portable emulator experience / EmuMannen
