The only trick that worked with me, is I have
hacked a old PS/2 Microsoft Mouse.

I had just keep the WICO mecanical parts...

If you have a solder iron, just unsolder
the infrared emitter and receptor off the mouse
electronic circuit. Buy a small mica sheet at
Radio Shack just cut them to the same size as the on
WICO one, 1inch x 1.2inch and solder the microsoft
infrared emitter and receptor on this small
mica sheet.
