Well I'm glad you didn't have anyone get hurt. Now that you have it...put a handle on the top-back and put another handle on the bottom near the front. This is what I did. That way you can pull it up the stairs with the handle and your friend can grab the other handle and help it up. I also installed wheels on the bottom-back so I can tilt it like a hand cart and movie it with no problem. Perhaps that will help you move it in the future?
