OK after I wrote that last message I thought of this stuff:

1) I should use SCROLL LOCK as the trigger because several games flash NUM & CAPS lock when you "insert" a coin which would make the light turn on/off as well.

2) I noticed that all 3 keyboard LED's flash very quickly on/off (less than a second) when you press a key at any Game Information screen (before the game loads). Would a relay react properly to this quick "pulse"? Worst case is I could find this LED flashing code in the mame source and "modify" it for my personal system.

3) I went into Star Wars and for some strange reason it lights all the LED's up and keeps them on during game play. Not sure why it would do this - my real Star Wars arcade machine doesn't have any lights that would need to be emulated. ESB does it too. Is there a specific reason for this or is it something to do with the vector games code? Worst case the light would be on while the person is playing a game of this type (who knows, it might add to the experience...)
