I've used a trackball for almost a year now and while it "works" with games like Arkanoid, Tempest, Tron, and others, it sure doesn't work well (as in authentic). On the other hand, a spinner won't work at all (no vertical control) on games like "Missile Command, Centipede, Star Wars" so if you had to have one or the other I'd go with the trackball.
: My current control panel plans include a trackball and I'm debating whether or not to include a spinner. Does a trackball work as a good substitute for the games that require a spinner?
