I couldn't agree with all of Tom61's points more. Good times and bad times, this board still thrives, and it does so because of the "openness" of it. I think that the potential discouragement that newbies might face if there were restrictions would be a shame. I didn't see the offending post that you're talking about, but a pox upon whomever it was I say!

: I think that leaving the board the way it is the way to go, we've had a few bad times here and there, but we've always pulled through. Any steps to make it harder to do such things (passwords, logins, emailing back, etc.), would make the board less usable, and might even encourage it, because of "the chalange".
