: Ok. I may know what your video problem is. First off.... see if you have this problem with smashTV. If you do... Then force the game to run at 8bit color and choose a vid res that is close to the actual game res. If it seems fine then I think I know the problem. I have seen this from many people using ATI cards. I am going to make a writeup about it on my page soon if I can get the time. Basically its because of a couple of things. 1) these games are 16 bit color. 2) 16 bit color only works in 640x480 mode on an arcade monitor. 3) there is a problem with 16bit 640x480 mode in MAME with SOME ati cards but not all. (I think its mostly PCI cards but i am not sure... maybe its variations with the chipsets. Anyway... it has to do with the timing of DSP. I know how to fix it but it involves compiling your own version of mame. If this sounds like it could be your problem... drop me a line via e-mail and I can help ya out.

: : first check out my current project: www.webchoice.net/laserrot
: : i have yet to get sound or controls working as I want to get the video working 100% before i mess with anything else.

: : problem: small neogeo games work great [sengoku, and 202 baseball for instance]. larger ones like blazing star or last blade 2 the video is wacky. it seems like the right 1/2 of the screen is repeated 3 times and the left side is fairly okay. this isn't only with neogeo games tho. all the CPS1 games ALL play fine, but rtype leo and and others have the same problem as the bigger neogeo ones.

: : i have deleted the CFG files for all the games. what next? it's a 33" actual arcade monitor on an ATI RAGE IIC in pure DOS with arcadeOS as the front end.

: : i would also appreciate if some one could e-mail me their arcadeos.cfg file just so i can look it over.

: : thanks a bunch for any input you can give.

: : oh - what keyboard encoder should i use? the LP24, KE18 or KE24? i basically have just 2 controllers with 4 buttons each, 1/2 player start and insert coin and escape keys to map!
