Can anyone list some downfalls in using Sidewinder hacks in my Mame cabinet

I have built an arcade panel using Sidewinders in the past, and are familiar with them. Therefore, I would like to use them again in my cabinet. I don't want to go through the hassles of a keyboard hack. This Powerramp thing sounds interesting, but don't really know much about it. Can you list advantages and disadvantages? Thanks
