Aren't we all amateurs, though?

I think I can see what you mean about the different sides. I guess I'm more from the traditional gaming school where one would want to be able to stand up against the front of the console and get to the coin doors, etc.

About the KE72... Were you able to get one of the new addons that someone on here was talking about that does the keystroke conversions for you, or did you make it yourself? I became pretty interested in one of those when I first heard about it, but the lack of spinner on my control panel kinda negates the need.

It would be pretty interesting to see what you come up with for the switches. My thinking is that a nice solid state relay would handle the switching properly. Maybe have a light-up button on each side of the panel and when you rotate to that side, press the button, the light lights up and that side works. One would just have to be careful not to turn the control panel too many times in one direction without turning it backwards... Unless you have a really slick connector that works through the axel so it can be rotated infinately... Might not be too hard if the encoder is mounted inside of the control panel itself. Then you'd only have to connect maybe five or six pins. (total active, non-redundant connections is a PS/2 mouse and keyboard).
