I know that this comes up about every day it seems, and there is a lot of good information about the pro's and con's of what display to use, but I have no direct comparison of a TV vs. Arcade Monitor... Anyhow here are some details.

OK. I've decided that I do NOT want to go with a computer monitor, but I am building my own MAME cabinet from scratch, and I need to know which is better, a Wells Gardner (or other) arcade monitor, or a TV (case taken off)? I have a source for a brand new 25" RCA TV for $200. The Wells Gardner (new) is more than that. I have a TV out on my video, and it would be a direct hook to the TV. That is the way that I am leaning, and authenticity is not that important. If it was, I wouldn't be building from scratch. Anyhow, is it worth the money (more expensive plus shipping soct), time (the TV is on sale at a local store, no ned to wait), plus installation time to get a true "arcade" monitor? Maybe it is me, but they look like a TV without the tuner.

Someone please tell me that my gut feeling (TV) is right, or give me good reason to go with the Arcade Monitor.

Thanks!

Nickster
