: PC Monitor: Hands-down the best picture quality in terms of DPI. Obviously, you can run Windows and other higher-end graphics applications on it. The biggest downside is the price. The other downside is that for a lot of people, it just doesn't "feel" like a real arcade cabinet unless it has a real arcade monitor it in. I personally have a PC monitor in my cab, and I'm very happy with the quality. However, a TV seems like a good idea for this type of project.
: TV: The best bang for the buck in term of dollars spent for the size of the screen that you get. The resolution is not nearly as good as what you'd get on a PC monitor (I think 800x600 is the best that you'll get), but you *will* be able to run Windows on it. Plus, you gotta figure that the res on most of the MAME games doesn't need anything beyond that for the most part. The colors do bleed a bit, and the picture quality isn't as good as a PC monitor, but you get a nice big screen for little $$$.
: Arcade Monitor: For the "purist". This IS the real deal...both the good and the bad. The good is that your games will look as "authentic" as they possibly could. The bad is that an arcade monitor is only good for arcade games. You won't be running Windows on it. Plus, they aren't exactly cheap.
