There is a pretty cool DOS app for playing mp3s called DAMP.
Check at http://www.damp-mp3.co.uk/
It's command line driven and has a cool fullscreen visualization feature, can read id3 tags, and a lot more. Maybe arcadeos could be configured to front end it.
