You're right, I was talking about the physical appearance, not the actual game play. I have Defender, Pac-Man, and Arkanoid II cabs for the authentic look. This is basically a MAME/PC cab that "looks" like the rest (unplugged anyway ;-)).

This is the best board on the Net...Game On!!!

: : You are totally right about the authentic "classic look". Our programmer here at work is an old school traditionalist too (funny, because he is younger than me). I am more concered about being able to using the cab for newer PC games and networking concerns (MAME supercedes these though!!!) I just wanted to let people know that there is a way to get the classic look with a PC monitor ;o)

:
: By "classic look" we're talking about two different things. You are talking about how the MONITOR looks in a cabinet. I think most people would consider "classic look" as how the DISPLAY looks on the monitor.
: Having both an arcade monitor and a VGA monitor that I can run MAME on, I can say that the VGA display looks pathetic in comparison. But the arcade monitor does limit the types of programs that can run on the system. You just have to make your decision based on how you want to use your cabinet.
