By "classic look" we're talking about two different things. You are talking about how the MONITOR looks in a cabinet. I think most people would consider "classic look" as how the DISPLAY looks on the monitor.
Having both an arcade monitor and a VGA monitor that I can run MAME on, I can say that the VGA display looks pathetic in comparison. But the arcade monitor does limit the types of programs that can run on the system. You just have to make your decision based on how you want to use your cabinet.
