You are totally right about the authentic "classic look". Our programmer here at work is an old school traditionalist too (funny, because he is younger than me). I am more concered about being able to using the cab for newer PC games and networking concerns (MAME supercedes these though!!!) I just wanted to let people know that there is a way to get the classic look with a PC monitor ;o)

: Have you really done a side-by-side comparison of ur PC display to a WGU3100 or other arcade type screen? I have. 19" PC screens tend to look very blocky and not as bright. If you're satisified with what you see then that's all that really matters, but I still don't think PC monitors are the ideal way to go if one wants to get that real old-skool arcade look.

: BTW - WGU3100's cost around the same as that Princeton, and for me an extra $50 or so would be worth the authentic look.

: -P-

: : Hello all you arcade freaks (I count myself amoung you)!!! I just wanted to put my $.02 in about the monitor debate. I looked into buying an over priced WG monitor (the XGA isn't even available yet!) and I thought about using an existing arcade monitor, but I opted for a $294.00 (total price from onvia.com with free shipping) Princeton Graphics 19" SVGA monitor.

: : I know what some of you are saying, "I haven't seen a good cab yet that uses a PC monitor." Well, I would of agreed with you until now.

: : The first thing I did when the monitor came in was disassemble it. I took all the plastic off and presto, I had a WG looking arcade monitor. I then used a plastic 19" monitor bezel from a Defender cab that I have to restore, and put it to the monitor. It looks awesome!!! You can't even tell it is a regular PC monitor. Best of all, I can still do Windows stuff or anything else PC related. I will have my site up and running soon with pics. But untill then, check out stickheads.8m.com (I,m the Blue stick).
