ArcadePC swappable CP

I just finished the prototype of my first controller. It's a 4-way Wico and two buttons. I built it in a 8" square cardboard box with the I-PAC connected to my computer's USB port. It works great. I planned on building the actual box out of wood and placing it on the pull-out tray of my ArcadePC. But my plans changed after visiting the Examples page.

I was so amazed by the swappable CP's of Craig's Roswell 88201 and Mr. Salty's MAME Cabinet that I decided to try and build a swappable CP for my ArcadePC. The idea is to replicate the HotRodSE enclosure except my version will have a removable lid. I'll mount the I-PAC and any other interfaces inside the enclosure. All the controls will be mounted on the lid (minus the coin-up buttons, which I think I'll attach to the front of the enclosure -- same as how the ArcadePC is setup now. I'll either use a DB-25 ribbon cable or a Molex connector to attach all of the connections to the I-PAC board. I plan on mounting the adapter to a side of the enclosure and mount the opposite adapter on the side of the lid so it automatically connects when I drop the lid on.

Does this seem doable? Has anybody here with an ArcadePC tried this yet? Any pointers you can give a novice who is about to take a major leap into BYOAC?

Thanks,
Dan
