: You'll be able to play any game on a Standard Res monitor on MAME providing its height is not greater than 256, if its greater than 256 then the image has to be scaled down.

: Some cards do have support for Interlaced modes, 640x480 for example, however you'd be restricted to a 30FPS update.

: This covers about 70% of MAME games so you be okay.
