Yes 2 days of actual construction!!! I must give kudos to this site and especially Jim Dziagwa (Tech Director at Happ Controls who answered all my questions assuring me that it all should work, despite his experience with MAME being nil). I spent a looooong time reading these message boards and almost every page on this site and others. I just used what others were doing, and pretty much did it differently.
Basically there was no way I wanted to do a keyboard hack, and most of all, I wanted a nice fuctional, social piece of furniture for my Basement/gameroom. So I built my own cabinet instead of cramming all this into a junker and the Happ UGCI cards definately make it very very very very very easy. Just crimp the female quick disconnects on the ends of the wires sticking off the UGCI cards and connect to the button/joystick and daisy-chain the grounds to each other and youre done. Took me about 6 hours to wire and label. That was pretty much the hardest part.
